Humans are adults, or animals is one that has grown to the fullest extent. Adults are considered to be a social notion and a legal one within the world of humans. As opposed to someone who is not considered to be an adult or "minor" legally adult has attained majority, that makes them independent competent, responsible, and capable. A legal adult can be referred to as a major. It is generally accepted that the threshold at which an individual legally matures is 18. However, this can vary depending on legal rights and countries and also on the psychological state.

Human development is the time that is when physical and mental maturity has been achieved. Adulthood usually begins at an age that is 21. Middle age, commencing around 40 years old, is followed by an ageing process that can last up to 60 years old. The beginning of adulthood occurs between the ages of 18 to 30. The middle age stage begins from the mid-30s through to the 60s. Late adulthood starts at the mid-60s. As we enter early adulthood the body is at the fullest physical maturation. However, our height and our weight can grow. In the early years of our adulthood, we're physically and mentally at the peak. The strength of our muscles, the response timing, the ability to sense and cardiac function all reach their highest levels.
